Drum Lesson FAQ
Austin and Surrounding Areas

How comfortable are you teaching beginners who've never had a lesson?
Completely comfortable.  I have a lot of patience, and a firm grasp of what is fundamentally important for a new student.

How do you prefer to start off teaching a raw beginner? (Chords, progressions, etc?)
The most important question a student can ask is, "What do I want to know?"  Depending on the student, the first lesson may be Fills, basic beats, rudiments, or just how to hold the sticks.

What ages are you comfortable with teaching?
Well, I won't teach babies.  They chew on the sticks and make them all gooey.  Seriously though, I'm comfortable teaching students age 8 & up. If you're over 70, I'll teach you for free!!

What about just helping people work on a specific song?
Absolutely!  I love learning songs, and I'm happy to teach you how to play them correctly.

Would you consider yourself able to teach "advanced" guitar players?
Unfortunately, though I am an excellent teacher, I am only a decent drummer.  I am confident teaching beginner and intermediate students.

How often would you ideally meet with students? (Weekly, monthly, etc)
Once a week is a good start.  It depends on how often the student practices.  Faster progress demands more knowledge.

How far are you willing to drive to meet a student?
I can travel anywhere in the Austin area, but would prefer to stay within a 45 minute drive. Travel charges may apply, if outside of this range.
